Whew! Glad that's off my chest!
Life is funny sometimes. I have two kids now and I feel like I have more time than I did with just one (though my blogging habits haven't reflected this, I know). I guess once you learn to let some things go life gets a little nicer, a little happier, and becomes an all around a more pleasant experience. Despite this euphoric state I just described (ha!) we have had a some bumps in the road. For example:1) the time that James (2 1/2 years old) decided to play in the toilet for the first time EVER. Why? No idea, I was completely baffled by the whole situation. 2) Sam decided for the second month of his life he didn't want to nap in his crib, and he didn't really want to be held either. Instead he wanted to be in his carseat, in a baby carrier, or occasionally in his swing. I (not being able to see this for the phase that it was) had some very frustrating days, made some tearful and frantic phonecalls to parents and siblings and read my baby sleep bible again trying to figure out what in the heck was wrong. This last Friday, pretty much out of the blue, Sam decided that was silly (thank goodness) and that napping in his crib isn't so terrible, greatly reducing the number of crying hours in our day. Lesson learned.
On to other things. My babies are just growng up so fast I can hardly keep up! Sam is two months old and just as sweet as he can be. He's a great eater, coming in at 13lbs 14oz at his checkup. He's in six month clothes and size two diapers. I'm pretty tickled that he's doing so well with just nursing (yes, I'm guilty of a little pride when it comes to those chunky thighs). I struggled so much with nursing James that this feels like a big accomplishment. Hopefully we can keep it up! A couple other milestones of note: first smile- 3 1/2 weeks; first giggle 8/4. He's really a very happy baby.
James surprises me every day. He catches on to things so quickly it's scary. He loves to sing and it just tickles me pink to hear him bust out with "Let's Go Fly a Kite" or catch him singing right along with the Tangled soundtrack in the car, and that includes the instrumental parts. His favorite things are asking "What's that Mom/Dad?" or updating us on Sam's status. "Sam is [happy, wigglin', sad, sleeping, etc.]" Some cute things he says: Epalent - elephant; Fisk it - fix it (actually that goes for all x sounds).
As for us old folks, Dan and I both turned one year older. We just keep truckin' along. No official news on our upcoming move yet, though the biggest possibilities are Yorktown, VA and Sioux Falls, SD, most likely at the end of September. We are (respectively) YW and Exective Secretaries in our ward which can be rather convenient when things need to be communicated between the two organizations.
And to round things off, here are some pictures of our crew.
