Seven Months

James is at such a fun stage right now. He's not mobile yet, but he's discovering so many new things every day that life is always exciting. He's changing and growing so fast I just wanted to note a few things that are so precious right now.

• James is (usually) so happy and calm when he wakes up. It's just so fun to go in and get him out of his crib and snuggle with him for a few minutes, especially in the morning.
• He's a pro at sitting up now, he loves his exersaucer and he's starting to figure out how to jump in the Johny-jump-up.
• He can put his own pacifier in, hold his own bottle, and pick up his sippy cup (he would just rather have someone else do it most of the time). He's also getting pretty good at picking up his little puffs, sometimes even between thumb and finger, and putting them in his mouth.
• He loves stroller rides and gets really excited when we're leaving the apartment and walking down the stairs to the car. But after a long outing he's also excited to come home and play with his toys again.
• James is SO happy. That is one of the first things most people notice about him. I usually chalk it up to being well rested and fed, but I suppose it also has a lot to do with his own special little personality.
• When he's falling asleep he twirls his little feet around a few times as part of his relaxing process, then he grunts and hums a little to himself and stretches real big before he's ready to take a nap or go down for the night.
• James has quite a vocabulary. Raspberries, growling, grunting, and squealing are his most common sound effects, but my favorites are when he jibber-jabbers quietly in the carseat, or when I'm reading him a book or snuggling with him.
• He is starting to notice little things like buttons and earings (unfortunately) and he'll focus on them for a while. He really likes the fire sprinklers in the apartment, there is one right above the crib that he'll stare at while he's falling asleep.
• He's becoming more aware of what Dan and I are doing and wants to be a part of it, especially when we're eating.
• When he sees pictures and videos of himself he is captivated and sometimes chuckles at them.

We love our handsome little guy! What a sweetie.
